Glossary¶
Every term the report, the viewer and the concern messages put in front of you, in plain language. Nothing else.
Angular speed (ω, "omega") : How fast you and the hammer are rotating, in revolutions per second. The report's Mean ω columns are this, averaged over a turn.
Back lean : How far you are leaning back against the pull of the hammer. Reported as a per-turn average with the range it moved through.
Concern : Something the analysis is unsure about, listed on your throw card with a severity and a suggestion. A concern is not a failure — a throw with concerns still has a full report.
Double support (DS) : Both feet on the ground. The part of a turn where you can actively drive the hammer.
DS fraction : The percentage of a turn spent in double support. The delivery is all double support, so it always reads 100%.
Estimated distance : How far the throw would carry, calculated from the speed, angle and height at release. Not a measurement of where the ball landed.
Orbit : The circle the hammer travels around you.
Orbit tilt : How tilted that circle is, in degrees. Consistency across turns matters more than the value.
Release : The frame the hammer leaves your hands. Marked REL on the viewer's timeline.
Release speed : How fast the hammer was travelling at that instant, in metres per second. The number that most determines the distance.
Separation : The angle between your hips and your shoulders — the wind-up stored in your torso.
Single support (SS) : One foot on the ground. The pivoting part of a turn.
T0 : The frame the throw proper begins, at the end of the winds.
Throw window : Everything between T0 and release. Every per-turn number is computed inside it.
Turn boundary : The frame one turn ends and the next begins. The report's rows are the spans between these.
Turns : How many full rotations across the circle were detected — not counting the winds.
Winds : The preliminary swings before the turns begin. Marked W0 on the viewer's timeline.
